There isn't a full triangle as there is with Sin City 2, where Eva Green's character calls Josh Brolin's when she's having sex with the detective. However, Tim Burton's gaze is there to witness it as it's there to witness every scene. The Burton aesthetic that makes the setting of almost all of his movies dark, ominous, and with a permeable boundary between the human world and the supernatural one, is the gaze from which he is present.
