I think the video is interesting in the contrast between the 'glamourous' parts when Grimes is made up and the informal parts where she looks like she is being brave just to be in public and around others. Sometimes it looks like she could just disappear into her jacket (implode or turn into a pile of ashes like a vampire) and it would seem normal. In the glamourous bits she looks less like a ghost (her being at a motorcycle event with a bunch of men around is a remarkable contrast) but she has to be relatively still like a mannequin to achieve the effect.
